While recovering from ill health, I decided I needed a quiet, creative focus.
As a child, I had always enjoyed drawing, so I bought some pastel pencils, picked up a photograph of my son's dog, and started sketching... and that's where it all began.
I discovered how comforting and fulfilling the process was, and I carried on by drawing all kinds of family pets—dogs, cats, and even a friend's photograph of a harvest mouse!
Each animal has their own unique character, and I love nothing more than capturing the cheeky spark, quirky expressions, and distinct personality of every pet I draw. I pay special attention to their eyes, as I feel they truly hold the soul of the portrait.
Whether I am celebrating a joyful companion currently filling your home with life or creating a gentle memorial keepsake for a pet who has passed away, every drawing is created by hand with the same deep care and patience.
I take on a small, limited number of personal commissions each month so every portrait receives the dedicated attention it deserves—resulting in a piece you will want to keep for a lifetime.

If you have several photographs, I can combine the best features from each to create a hand-drawn pet portrait that truly captures your pet's personality. Whether you are commissioning a dog memorial portrait, a cat memorial portrait, or a tribute to another beloved companion, these soft pastel pet portraits from photos are treated with the same patience and respect. Please don't hesitate to send me your photographs, even if they're old or not the best quality. I'll carefully review them, discuss the available options with you, and let you know exactly what's possible before you commit to anything.
